Closing gaps in research

Successful third call for proposals for NRP 76 that address adoptions in coercive situations and the placement of foster children with families.

Four research groups submitted proposals in response to the third NRP 76 call. These are currently being reviewed. Decisions on the four research proposals are to be taken by mid-May 2021.

The research projects that are selected will be able to help close some major gaps in research. Apart from the forced adoptions inflicted on travelling Yenish families under the “Kinder der Landstrasse” (Children of the Open Road) programme, the subject of adoption barely figures in historical or social scientific research. Research on the placement of foster children with families is also still patchy.
