NRP 76 welcomed 200 guests to its final event. The researchers presented their findings, which were discussed and put into context by a panel. At the end, Federal Councillor Beat Jans gave a well-received speech.

The publication of the synthesis report marks the end of NRP 76. In it, the Steering Committee summarises the results of the 29 research projects and presents ten takeaways. The synthesis is available to download free of charge in German, French and Italian. The dual aim of this scientific contribution is to inform public opinion and to add nuance to political and professional debates.

In order to enrich these debates directly and promptly, the NRP Steering Committee invited all the researchers involved, representatives from society, politics and the authorities as well as those affected to a joint closing event on the Gurten in Bern seven years after the programme’s launch.

The researchers presented their findings to roughly 200 guests. A panel of experts together with representatives of those affected, of the authorities and of politicians discussed the results and main conclusions. Afterwards, Federal Councillor Beat Jans, Head of the Federal Department of Justice and Police, recognised the research’s successful reappraisal and announced a series of measures that his department will implement to ensure the dissemination and application of the findings. As such, the topic will be memorialised and embedded in Switzerland's collective memory.

While respecting the sensitivity of the subject of welfare and coercion, attendees of the closing event enjoyed a festive atmosphere thanks to musical entertainment by the duo Kurios featuring Patrick Waser and Erich Eicher.
